Marc Pye

Marc Pye has been writing for film and television for the past ten years. Amongst his television credits are Eastenders, High Road, The Bill, Waterloo Road, The Royal, Holby Blue, Echo Beach, River City, The Street and Moving On.

He is the author of two novels, Lollipop and Rewire (Sceptre) and his three short films – Baldy McBain, Last Legs and Instant Credit all premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. Instant Credit was also selected for the Newport Beach Film Festival, LA in 2004.

His first feature, Act of Grace, starring Leo Gregory, David Yip and Jennifer Lim is due to be released this year and he is currently writing Between Weathers, a feature comedy due to shoot in The Shetlands in September 2010.

In terms of Teaching, Marc was a tutor on Scottish Screen’s Movie Makars in 2001; a tutor for the Arvon Foundation at Moniack Mhor in 2003; in 2003 and 2004 he taught ‘Writing for TV’ at Strathclyde University; and in 2004 and 2005 he was a tutor for BBC Scotland Scottish Screen’s First Writes.

In 2006 he devised and ran a course called ‘Soapy Bubble’ with Kilmarnock Gateway Writers Group, which taught writers interested in writing for television how to create a serial drama from scratch. It was filmed by Mandragora Productions and made into a DVD and interactive CD.

This year Marc was tutor for Bellshill Academy Learning Centre’s ‘Lensheads’, part of the First Light Young Film Fund, working with 10 young writers who produced 10 short scripts over a three day workshop, three of which will be filmed this summer.
