Julie Fraser

Training Area: Glasgow

Julie Fraser is a writer with extensive experience in the media industry in Scotland as a Drama Story Editor and Producer working in the short film and TV Drama genre.

Julie is currently devising and delivering a range of Creative Writing and Adult Literacy programmes for Culture and Sport reaching a diversity of communities across the city of Glasgow including  Carers Groups, Mental Health initiatives, Community Art Groups, and Forensic Psychiatric units.

She has also worked extensively with John Wheatley college on its outreach programme `Routes into Learning`, developing writing and drama skills with women prisoners, and at risk women in homeless units and addiction rehab facilities.

Julie`s innovative stage play `Maria of my Soul` was recently revived by Clyde Unity Theatre in a guerrilla theatre for the elderly tour around day care centres, community halls and sheltered housing across Glasgow ( “irresistible to anyone who cares about out our society`s tendency to ignore and patronise the old”).

Julie is keen to develop screenwriting skills with hard to reach and marginalised community groups and is developing a `taster` Introduction to Screenwriting course for Glasgow`s Cardonald College for Autumn 2010.
