Andy Kennedy

Training Area: Aberdeen/Glasgow/Edinburgh

Andy studied Fine Art at the University of Dundee where he specialised in moving image and installation and graduated with a 1st Class Honors Degree in 1997. While in Dundee he co-founded the artists run organisation Generator Projects and accepted a teaching internship at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art.  Over the past 12 years he has held various full and part-time academic posts across Scotland and has managed a variety of consultancies and commissions; producing and directing creative and corporate projects and consulting on film, script, media and education projects.

Andy was recently consulted as a ‘Development Producer’ for the Scottish Digital Shorts scheme (SDS/DigiCult) and worked alongside executives from Edge City Films, Broken Spectre, the UKFilm Council, Scottish Screen and BBC Scotland. The 3 intensively developed scripts all made it to production and will be premiering at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2010. The prognosis is good, with the first of the Stuart Comrie’s short film ‘Battenberg’, a wonderful and dark 10 min Stop-frame animation, already landing the 2010 New Talent BAFTA and selected for Edinburgh and the World Short Film Festival 2010 in Toronto.

Andy currently lives and works in Glasgow and Aberdeen, and is an ambassador of the creative process, recently co-founding Aberdeen’s first official Film Festival in 2009. He maintains a freelance career as a teacher, filmmaker, composer and editor and is known by some, as one of the countries Final Cut Pro guru’s. Andy also designed the Photographic and Electronic Media (PEM) Honors Degree course at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, where he leads filmmaking practices.
